NEWS IN: CETAG To Call Off Strike Soon, Agreement Reached With Government Representatives

The Government Team represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), Ministry of Education (MOE), Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ministry Of Finance (MOF), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) met with Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) on 19th August, 2024 at MELR Conference Room to discuss the concerns of CETAG members. The meeting started at 10:07 a.m. and the outcomes were as follows:

l. Both Parties agreed to use the nomenclature, Scheme of Service and Conditions of Service of their affiliate Universities (Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Asso. professor and Professor) for the migration of the Colleges of Education.

2. Both Parties further agreed that payment after the migration will reflect in October 2024 after which the Parties will meet to discuss the payment plan for all arrears.

3, On the issue ofthe Compensation for All Year Round, the MinistryofFinance has done the necessary ground works for validated Colleges and forwarded same to the Ministry of Education for onward payment by the end ofAugust.

CETAG appealed to the Government Team to pay them their salaries for July 2024 which was frozen as a result of their strike. The Government Team indicated its willingness to make the payment once CETAG calls off its strike action.

CETAG representatives present at the meeting agreed to Consult With their Council by the close Of 20th August, 2024 to call off the strike.
